Revisit Elliot Lake
Soon after the children started their vacation, we started early one day early in the morning, fully packed, little camper in tow, heading north to Canada. Crossing into Canada at Sault St Marie, the border, and moved towards Blind River. Located on Highway 17, an East West route, 30 miles west of the border crossing. Lottie's, close to be a teenager, seeing for the first time the place where her life began was amazed and enjoyed the extra time we all spent there. The Hospital where it all happened is still present, Have a look at the Map, far left ake - Elliot Lake and Marie - end of Sault St. Moving on to Elliot lake, not far to drive, 30 miles. After a night of camping, this was much better to the liking of all, comparing the past with patronizing Motels. Spending all of the next morning and showed the children where our and their future actual started. Right after Lunch we loaded our utensils and start driving to our next destination, a four hour drive from our present location.
Visiting Algonquin Park
A look at the map will help the travelway to the park easier to observe. We continued west on Rout 17 passing Sudbury, continued to North Bay and make a nearly ninety Deg, turn to the south Huntsville, very close to our goal, Algonquin Park. A sharp left turn to Highway 60 brought us into the Park. Algonquin Park a very big Park and established as a park in 1893. Prior to a scattered family groups of aboriginal people came to fish, hunt and pick berries, but their numbers were never large. The Park today is

why camping is our preference to utilize vacation, of any length. This camping trip by now is very vivid in my mind, because some happenings were so absurd but very humorous, that I cannot abstain to tell you. One day we came across a beautiful lake open to canoeing which I never tried before. The children did not want to join me, inasmuch they heard what said in regards to my experiences of canoeing. Soon the mother of my children sat in the canoe and we paddled along, not for hours, but for a much longer time than usual at "one" location. At the time it was not funny, to go round and round in a circle, but after finally we made back to the shore, we all laughed it up for a long time. That was about the most exciting and funny occasion on this trip, which actual supposed to be a somber trip into the Past. It added quit a bit to the original plan. After a few days we started going south, passing Barrie a much known place when I was working on the Horse Farm, many years ago. A little further southerly on the same Highway got us to our next destination, prior to the approaching darkness, Brampton, Ontario, Residence of my Friend from many years when residing and working in Elliot Lake.
Visiting my Friend Nick & Family.
At arriving at Nick`s Place were greeted with unbelievable happiness on both sides.
Many years passed since we have seen each other, but the feeling of connected transposed over times was apparent. Nick had a Family and two girls' similar ages that made contact very fast with our three girls. Nicked asked us to camp on his property for the duration we are there. The girls asked us for participation on a trip we planned to Niagara Falls, which was not to far away. On the way to the Fall we passed thru Cherry Orchards visited them awhile with humongous pleasure. One of Nick`s girl started feeling sick, the best I could do, to return to her home as fast as possible. It was it little disappointing but we will find an opportunity on our return trip to visit the Niagara Falls. After the girl was home awhile, she recuperated fast. All together, we spend visiting my Friend and his family for three days/nights, absorbed and recalled in long conversations many memories, which I do not want to forget. The separation was painful but we made it. We left a little early in the morning on our trip home to Waukesha, WI. One more stop to before the actual return stretch to home can begin.
Here we come again!
On the way home, we planned to visit a distant family member of the family what we never did before. It was little cumbersome to find their residency on the outskirts of Toronto. Many years passed since I visited Toronto, Many changes in the City happened, but eventual we located them. Surprise, Nobody home, so we started towards Niagara Falls to fulfill the promise we made to our children. This turned into a much bigger and much more pleasant event than the surprise we had in Toronto. Even if I could try to describe our children's reaction when they saw this one of the biggest Wonder of the Worlds, the words are missing. If any of you have visited the Niagara Falls ever, you know what I am trying to say. If you never visited the place I recommend to you, go there you will be astonished. It was a long way to home but we started towards Detroit's Tunnel, to Chicago, Milwaukee and finally ended our wonderful trip into the Past. It was rewarding particular the children who might think about future camping trips already. We arrived very late and in darkness at Waukesha WI Clover Knoll Drive, where we started about ten days ago. The families save and sound sleeping in their beds, where I was conversing with my Friend for the protection during the trip, and tell my Guardian Angel my thanks. I went to bed and fell a sleep right of way.
take the opportunity to make up and try to tell you one of the firsts trips back to Canada since we left Elliot Lake in 1958. The unrest and constant beggaring of the children made me look around to find a different approach to going on overnight small trips. Overnight in the Motels turned some sometimes in an unhappy affair. After more reoccurrences, we decided to rent a small movable sleeping accommodation. During one of the Children break times in school we planned and took off to revisit Elliot Lake, Canada and visit for a few days The Algonquin Park on the way to one of my Friends from the Elliot Lake time. To keep track somewhat better and easier to follow our Camping adventure an image of most of the travelled way shown on this Website page.
