PONDER:

ONLY FORCE AND OPPRESSION MAKE THE WRECKS OF THE WORLD"

ELLIOT LAKE - April/May 1958

Our last Website name Exodus ended with a Ponder, I thought to start our newest Site with the same, not to begin a tradition, being educational. By going thru some literature researching the feeling of leaving, came across a poem, which described our upcoming situation very well.

Where Do I Go From Here?
By Catherine Duggan.

Where do I go from here? - This transition period is weird - All that used to be near - Will disappear

My life is my own again - I am back to before not then - A blank canvass awaits the plan - at the crossroads of choices I stand.

The confusion buzzes in my head - which is the right path ahead - its time to re-evaluate - to think and wink.

I know the answer has come - I've got to walk slowly not run - Embrace the future and let the go - Stop struggling with change

Just go with the flow!

The time has come to start packing, which under normal circumstances would be nothing other than approaching routine. Just imagine the rest of our belongings, not consider any kind of furniture, were destined to fit the existing moving facilities a new Volkswagen. Any remaining bulky things handed to friends. It was not a big loss: however dampened considering the receiver. Inside of the vehicle, a safe

and comfortable accommodation for the children was prepared. Accomplished using all our Bed ware arranged in a suitable way. The packing used up all afternoon prior the day of our departure. Many found feelings entered my mind when all this packing took place. We even found a place for the oldest child to play with...The youngest one demonstrated happiness, which spread to all of us. Another look around said not Goodbye, but "Auf Wiedersehen" to all our Friends for many years. Tomorrow morning early, we planned to leave. Our goal was to reach our destination Waukesha Wisconsin in one Day. The length of Miles to travel was about 650 Miles. Prior Site # - 15 – depicts the route which brings us to our chosen location with the protection of God.

Loving the greatness and majesty of an Eagle seems to stick and preoccupies my mind quit a bit. Making all the plans of our future life and departing soon the Eagles image was in the Center .The

beginning of our trip will be soon, protected by God. The spirit of the Eagle will and can only supportive. With this attitude, we started on one early day in May 1958 towards our goals and dreams to materialize. We left early Elliot Lake with mixed feelings; however with a lot of anticipation, too. On the way towards St.Sault Saint Marie on Highway 17 going west we passed Blind River, where our latest Angel was born a couple of week ago, only. The next milestone we met was the Boarder between The United States, Michigan and Canada, Ontario, where we used the only possible way to cross with a Ferry the Waters of the Inland Lakes close to Niagara Falls. Being in the United States , we stopped awhile ,walking on American soil for the Lady the first time, stretched our legs ,tock care of the children and kept on moving South Michigan Highway # 2.

After a little rest, taking some nourishment to strengthen all of us, we continued on the final stretch to reach our final destination. Reaching Milwaukee at dust and followed the road markings toward Waukesha. The direction changed from southerly for many hours to a sharp change to the right with signs indicating Waukesha 18 Mile and Madison, the Capital of Wisconsin, 75 Miles. At that, moment I took my eyes of the road for a second raised them upwards and thanked my Friend and God for the protection he showered on us. Many times before I mentioned my depended to Him... The terrain leveled off a little but still was of a rolling nature. One of the Great Lake Waters was near, Michigan Lake, and the Seagulls could not hide the existing of big waters near. One hour we had to go to reach our destination. We followed a heavy travelled road the day daylight was slowly disappearing, but not dark enough to listen to a remark the Lady made after I asked her to comment on o my question, which sounded like this: Is it not nice at this Entrance of Waukesha? The Landscape to the right of us was a mid size river (Fox) bundied by many mature Willows reaching close to the top of the rushing River. At the northerly end of the River, a Dam created a good size Lake effect a possibility of using this area during the seasons crossed my mind. That was the Question prior to the Lady`s answer, which was in the Negative! Later she explains how nice the entrance along the river looked; but not the view to a Stone Quarry under work. That at the time was very humorous, we not only had a good laugh than, but many times since when we remised. To the House I rented at my first visit to Waukesha, a few months ago, was not very hard to locate. After we finally arrived, the children tucked away, made our self sleeping accommodations and did what was so desirable,

SLEEP! Mentioned in a prior Website the house was fully furnished and all needed utensils' present to start and maintain a household. We were very lucky and appreciated for a long time. Before we got up next morning and had a likeable breakfast for us and for our children, God received our deepest appreciation and multiple thank. Breakfast completed a little trip around the immediate neighborhood was in order to look for the nearest locality of our Faith. The little One was hardly one-month old and we wanted her Baptized as fast as possible. Our Custom encouraged us to do this... The first observation was satisfactory. The Church, grocery stores and many other usable commodities we found in walking distance. My future place of work was a little further away. After the little outing, we returned to our new housing and start planning a little the future steps ahead of us. More of Waukesha in following Websites!

Continued west along Highway #2 to the intersection with Highway $ 141 the direction changed sharply to South, a straight approach toward to the center of the State line of Wisconsin The trip is going well ,the children could sense our situation because their demeanor can only descript as perfect. The Landscape southwards is rolling to hilly and much filled with all kind of woods and other different plants. In between little rests for all of the car and us we reached the northerly border of quite a big Lake called, Winnebago Lake, at the city of Appleton. WI. Keep moving southerly thru a midsize settlement called Oshkosh, still along Lake Winnebago, which ended at the city of Fond du Lac WI, a crossroad of major traffic arteries. Slowly but surely approached on of the major City of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, which was about 1.5 hr. from our present location.

The next bigger city from Milwaukee to Waukesha is Chicago Ill. 110 Miles travel distance .A Railroad connection from Waukesha WI to Chicago ILL accommodates the people who desire so. Milwaukee has both a lively cultural scene and the manufacturing muscle to produce some of America`s most iconic products. The city`s, economy is driven by agriculture, government, manufacturing, retail and wholesale trade. Downtown Offers visitors a number of world class attraction with easy access via the Milwaukee County Transit Trolley.
